About Sunday School
Inspiring children to learn, grow, and embrace Hindu culture in a fun, joyful and meaningful way
Shri Sanatan Mandir Sunday School is dedicated to nurturing young minds by imparting Hindu cultural values, moral principles, and a strong sense of identity within a warm and supportive religious environment. Designed especially for children growing up away from India, the program helps students stay connected to their roots while building character, confidence, and community.
Our teachings are centered on Indian heritage and Hindu culture, with age-appropriate instruction focusing on Indian languages, culture, festivals, philosophy, yoga, and traditions. Through stories, prayers, music, interactive activities, and group projects, students learn timeless values such as respect, compassion, responsibility, and togetherness, lessons that guide them both inside and outside the Mandir.
At its core, Sunday School is about belonging. It provides children with a safe and welcoming space to learn alongside peers who share similar cultural backgrounds, helping foster friendships and a strong sense of community among Hindu families here in New Jersey.
Mission of the School:
Shri Sanatan Mandir Sunday School was established with the belief that learning within a spiritual environment provides a powerful foundation for moral development and character building. Our mission is to support families in raising children who are grounded in values, connected to their heritage, and proud of their cultural identity.
This is YOUR School:
The Sunday School is run entirely by dedicated volunteers who generously give their time and talents in the spirit of seva. We strongly believe that parent involvement and community feedback are essential to the school’s success. Families are encouraged to share ideas, offer suggestions, and actively participate in shaping a fun, engaging, and enriching experience for their children.
Volunteer Engagement
We warmly welcome volunteers from our Mandir community to be part of the Sunday School program, even if you do not currently have children enrolled in the school. Our program thrives on the dedication, talents, and lived experiences of individuals who are passionate about nurturing the next generation. If you are interested in contributing your time, skills, or ideas, we encourage you to connect with any member of the Sunday School Management Committee to learn more about volunteer opportunities.
